Member of Technical Staff, Platform Engineer (New Stealth Startup)

About Us Red Cell Partners is an incubation firm building and investing in rapidly scalable technology-led companies that are bringing revolutionary advancements to market in three distinct practice areas: healthcare, cyber, and national security. United by a shared sense of duty and deep belief in the power of innovation, Red Cell is developing powerful tools and solutions to address our Nation’s most pressing problems. About Stealth Startup We’re launching a new startup that is redefining how mission-critical organizations adopt AI. Our platform helps organizations across healthcare, government, and other regulated industries transform institutional knowledge into intelligence assets that improve the accuracy, reliability, and impact of AI in real-world workflows. We’re a fast-moving team of builders, researchers, and operators working to help customers create, measure, and continuously improve AI capabilities they can own and control. About the Role We are seeking a Member of Technical Staff, Platform Engineer (Full Stack) to productionize AI research and build the scalable systems required to support model training, evaluation, and data collection. This is a remote, United States-based role for an experienced engineer who can work across the full technology stack while bringing particular strength in backend systems, platform architecture, and infrastructure. You will architect and scale our reinforcement learning environments platform, build the systems that power data collection at scale, and establish the engineering foundations needed to move research into reliable production systems. Responsibilities Architect and scale our reinforcement learning environments platform and the underlying infrastructure required to support data collection at scale. Build and operate scalable backend services, APIs, and data-generation pipelines. Develop modular environment domains that integrate directly with model training and evaluation workflows. Translate research requirements and prototypes into reliable, production-quality systems. Build intuitive full-stack tools and interfaces that support research, engineering, and operational workflows. Design resilient systems with a strong focus on reliability, observability, performance, maintainability, and security. Develop and maintain data models, storage systems, and platform integrations. Improve platform architecture and engineering practices to increase developer velocity and system quality. Partner closely with Research, Product, Engineering, and Operations teams to define technical requirements and advance a shared roadmap. Participate actively in technical design discussions and contribute sound judgment to architecture and system-design decisions. Diagnose complex system issues and drive technical problems through resolution. Write clean, well-tested, and maintainable code while helping establish a high standard for engineering quality. About You You are an experienced full-stack engineer with deep strength in backend systems and platform architecture. You enjoy transforming complex research requirements into scalable, reliable software. You can move comfortably between system architecture, data models, backend services, infrastructure, and user-facing applications. You approach engineering decisions with an understanding of both immediate product needs and long-term platform implications. You are comfortable working with evolving requirements and bringing structure to technically ambiguous problems. You prioritize reliability, observability, maintainability, and performance rather than treating them as follow-on activities. You make pragmatic technical decisions without compromising the quality of the underlying system. You communicate technical decisions, tradeoffs, risks, and dependencies clearly. You work effectively across research, product, engineering, and operations teams. You demonstrate high agency, strong technical judgment, and accountability for outcomes. You are motivated by the purpose and real-world impact of the work, not simply by access to emerging technologies. Skills & Qualifications 6+ years of professional experience building full-stack applications, backend systems, distributed systems, or platform infrastructure. Deep proficiency in TypeScript, React, and modern backend architecture. Strong experience designing and building scalable backend services, APIs, and data pipelines. Solid understanding of PostgreSQL, data modeling, distributed systems, and system design. Demonstrated experience building and operating production systems on AWS or GCP. Experience developing reliable, observable, and performant production systems. Ability to translate research or product requirements into maintainable technical architectures and implementations. Experience working with model training, model evaluation, reinforcement learning environments, AI agents, or data-generation systems is preferred. Strong understanding of software engineering practices, including testing, code review, technical documentation, and production operations. Sharp problem-solving capabilities and the ability to diagnose complex issues across the technology stack. Ability to collaborate effectively with teams across functions and geographies. Strong written and verbal communication skills. U.S. citizenship is required. Salary Range: $200,000-350,000 + equity. This represents the typical base salary range for this position based on experience, skills, and other factors. #LI-RCP Our Red Cell Partners Benefits (may differ for each incubation): For full-time roles Career track opportunity with potential for rapid advancement with strong performance as the firm grows 100% employer paid, comprehensive health care including medical, dental, and vision for you and your family.
