Staff/Principal Engineer at Phreesia | Remote Jobs

United States Travel: Periodic travel for internal and external business needs Why This Role Exists At Phreesia, we're transforming the healthcare experience through intelligent technology that helps patients connect with care more easily and helps providers operate more efficiently. For over 20 years, we’ve built solutions that make healthcare simpler for patients and organizations from scheduling and registration to payments and patient management. Through our AccessOne financing platform we help patients manage medical expenses through access to affordable payment plans with zero or low-interest rates that don’t harm their credit. Regardless of credit history, we want all patients to qualify for our program and have access to the same non-discriminatory payment terms. We’ve already helped more than 1 million patients, and we’re rapidly expanding our reach to serve millions more. Following Phreesia’s acquisition of AccessOne, we are investing in the next generation of our platform and engineering team. We’re looking for a Staff/Principal Software Engineer to help define and build the technology needed to scale, integrate with Phreesia, simplify customer onboarding, and deliver product improvements faster and more reliably. Assess existing systems and make practical decisions about what to retain, modernize, or replace, balancing business value, delivery speed, reliability, and long-term maintainability. Use AI coding tools to investigate systems, explore solutions, implement changes, refactor code, and develop tests. Review and validate generated work, taking responsibility for its correctness, security, and maintainability. You Are Self-directed and comfortable taking ownership of complex hands-on work in an environment that gives you both freedom and responsibility. Strong at understanding business needs and how technical decisions affect product outcomes, business performance, and go-to-market execution. Adept at translating business and product objectives into technical solutions, evaluating tradeoffs across cost, delivery timelines, risk, and maintainability. Able to anticipate business and technical needs beyond the immediate requirements and design forward-thinking solutions without adding unnecessary complexity. Someone who takes pride in their work, takes responsibility for its quality, and looks for ways to improve it. Comfortable discussing complex technical and business problems with colleagues across the company from fellow engineers to the product and sales teams to the CEO. Able to explain the technical direction, risks, and tradeoffs clearly, understand different perspectives, and help people reach informed decisions.
