Senior Full Stack Developer - Deepdesk

About Deepdesk Deepdesk, part of AnywhereNow, powers AI Assistants and Virtual Agents for enterprise contact centres, helping brands such as Achmea, Vodafone and DHL boost productivity today while scaling for the future of customer experience. As part of AnywhereNow, a global leader in customer experience technology with 220 colleagues worldwide, we combine the agility of a scale-up with the strength of an established enterprise provider. The Opportunity We are looking for an experienced developer to join our small engineering team. The centre of the role is backend development in Python or Go and cloud infrastructure, with some front-end work alongside. At Deepdesk, we are building “Augmented Intelligence” for the enterprise. Think Gmail Smart Compose for contact centres. We use machine learning to provide agents with real-time recommendations and autocomplete suggestions, supporting them in efficiently assisting customers. Alongside recommendations, we offer fully virtual assistants that can take care of repetitive tasks. You will work on the services behind this: the Python and Go services and APIs, the data stores and the cloud infrastructure that run our product for enterprise customers, including the services that serve our recommendation models. You will also pick up front-end work where it helps the product, for example in our admin interface and widgets. We are also building voice agents: AI that talks with customers in real time. Speech is turned into text, a language model works out the answer, and the answer is spoken back, all within a fraction of a second. You will help build and run the services behind this, in Python and Go. We have a start-up culture, but your code is directly used and proven at scale. Our technology is cutting-edge and continually evolving. What You’ll Be Doing • Build and maintain backend services and APIs in Python and Go, with background processing for heavy work. • Keep our databases fast and reliable. • Run and improve our infrastructure on Google Cloud: Kubernetes, infrastructure as code and CI/CD pipelines. • Build and run the real-time voice agent services: speech to text, language model and text to speech, with low latency, in Python and Go. • Help deploy and run the machine learning services behind our recommendations. Machine learning experience is not required. • Design and provide complete and accurate end-to-end metrics. • Write and review well-tested, clean and maintainable code. • Follow software engineering best practices while staying pragmatic and avoiding over-engineering. • Contribute to front-end features in TypeScript and React when needed. Our Stack • Backend: Python (Django REST framework, FastAPI and Celery) and Go. • Voice: Go for our real-time voice AI service, with WebSockets, speech to text, language models, text to speech and the OpenAI Realtime API. • Data: PostgreSQL, Redis, ClickHouse and Elasticsearch. • Cloud: Google Cloud Platform, Kubernetes, Docker, Terraform, Flux and Cloud Build. • Front end: TypeScript and React. • Quality: automated tests (pytest, and BDD integration tests written in Go), code review on every change, and automation to keep our code and delivery practices in shape. What We’re Looking For • Strong professional experience building backend services in Python or Go. In Python, Django or FastAPI is a plus. • Solid knowledge of relational databases, in particular PostgreSQL. • Hands-on experience with containers, Kubernetes, infrastructure as code and CI/CD. Google Cloud is a plus. • Working knowledge of TypeScript and React, enough to build and fix front-end features. It does not need to be your strength. • A disciplined approach to testing, code review, maintainability and delivery. • Comfort working with autonomy and taking full ownership in a fast-moving environment. • Interest in voice and real-time systems, and willingness to also work in the other language. Our voice AI service and our integration tests are written in Go, and most of the backend is in Python. • A plus: experience with Celery, ClickHouse, Elasticsearch, serving machine learning models, or real-time audio. Why Join Us? • Based in the Netherlands, with flexibility over how you organise your time. [HR: confirm office and hybrid details] • A small team working with major enterprise clients. • Start-up culture combined with enterprise demands and production scale. • Full autonomy and full ownership of your work. • High standards, trust and plenty of humour. • The opportunity to shape real-time AI experiences used in enterprise contact centres. • Full-time (40 hours), permanent contract.
