Senior Data & AI Governance Specialist

Description: Shape data management as a strategic asset and govern AI responsibly at Xero. Partner with teams to co-design pragmatic data and AI governance approaches addressing bias, transparency, and explainability. Requirements: Deep knowledge of data governance frameworks and practices, including stewardship models and governance forums. Recent hands-on experience in AI governance and understanding of ethical, regulatory, and operational challenges. Technical depth in data architecture, quality, and lineage with experience bridging policy and technical implementation. Ability to translate complex regulatory requirements into clear guidance for diverse audiences. Strong communication skills and ability to build trust quickly. Familiarity with regulations like GDPR, EU AI Act, CCPA, and certification frameworks such as ISO 27001/SOC2. Growth mindset with a drive to automate and improve processes.
