Staff Software Engineer, Backend (Search)

Description: Lead technical strategy for backend systems related to search and recommendations at Affirm. Collaborate with product management, design, and analytics to ensure technical sustainability and manage risks. Foster a culture of quality and ownership within the team through code reviews and design standards. Ensure team operations and availability with proper monitoring and on-call processes. Develop talent by providing feedback and guidance to team members. Requirements: 8+ years of experience in designing and launching backend systems using Python or Kotlin. Proven track record in developing highly available distributed systems with AWS, MySQL, Spark, and Kubernetes. Experience with UI frameworks like React and 2+ years in search or recommendation engines. Ability to deliver major features and write high-quality, maintainable code.
