Backend Engineer

Description: Backend engineering role focused on building compliance and identity infrastructure for businesses in a fintech team. Design scalable, high-trust systems and influence the engineering culture of a senior, distributed team. Requirements: 5+ years of backend engineering experience with production APIs, distributed services, or backend systems; preference for 7+ years. Strong systems thinking and experience in high-trust or regulated domains (fintech, payments, identity). Hands-on experience with relational databases (Postgres or similar) and message queues/event-driven architectures (RabbitMQ, Kafka). Experience deploying applications in containerized/cloud environments (Kubernetes, AWS). Proven track record of writing automated tests and maintaining testable codebases. Familiarity with Node.js, TypeScript, Express, and Event Sourcing patterns is a plus. Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate closely with teammates. Comfortable with ambiguity and driven by curiosity and ambition. Benefits: Base salary: EUR 116,000 to 146,000, with no individual salary negotiation. Fully remote position, open to candidates in European timezones, with in-person team gatherings every six weeks.
