The company works closely with project managers, construction managers, landscape architects, and other industry partners to deliver high-quality projects with a strong focus on execution, cost control, and operational excellence. As the organization continues to manage a growing portfolio of active construction projects, it is strengthening its financial and project accounting capabilities to provide greater visibility into project performance and costs. About the Role We are seeking an experienced Job Cost Accountant to own the accuracy and integrity of job cost data across an active portfolio of construction projects. This role is dedicated to project financial performance and will be responsible for running and reviewing job cost reports, maintaining accurate cost coding, reconciling project financial data between Sage 100 and Procore, managing the monthly Work in Progress (WIP) schedule, and partnering directly with Project Managers and Construction Managers. This is not a passive reporting role. The Job Cost Accountant will be embedded with project teams and serve as a financial partner to operations, helping ensure that costs are accurately captured, forecasts remain current, and project leadership has reliable financial information for decision-making. Key Responsibilities Job Cost Reporting & Accuracy
- Run, review, and distribute weekly and monthly job cost reports from Sage 100 for all active projects.
- Reconcile Procore commitments, change orders, and invoicing against Sage 100 job cost detail.
- Identify financial variances and work with project teams to resolve discrepancies at the source.
- Review cost coding for AP invoices, subcontractor billings, labor, and equipment charges before they close to the job.
- Identify misallocated expenses and coordinate corrections with the appropriate project stakeholders.
- Maintain an accurate cost code structure in collaboration with finance and project leadership.
- Ensure job cost information rolls up accurately for financial reporting, project analysis, and estimating feedback. Project Management & Construction Management Partnership
- Conduct formal monthly job cost reviews with Project Managers and Construction Managers.
- Review budget vs. actual costs, committed costs, job cost detail, and forecast-to-complete estimates.
- Partner with project teams to identify and correct misallocated expenses.
- Serve as a primary finance resource for questions related to job costs, cost code selection, and committed cost reconciliation.
- Escalate recurring coding or accountability issues to finance and project leadership when appropriate. WIP & Percentage of Completion

Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience supporting multiple active construction projects simultaneously.
- Experience working directly with Project Managers and Construction Managers on monthly financial reviews.
- Knowledge of construction revenue recognition and percentage-of-completion accounting.
- Experience with AP coding, subcontractor billing, change orders, commitments, and construction cost controls.
- Experience using AI or automation tools to improve accounting, reconciliation, or reporting workflows. Project Managers and Construction Managers will have a reliable financial partner who understands their projects, WIP reporting will be accurate and defensible, cost coding issues will be identified and corrected quickly, and leadership will have greater visibility into the true financial performance of every active project.
