Technical & Solution Architect (Distributed Ledger / Regulated Financial Services)

Description Job Title: Technical & Solution Architect (Distributed Ledger / Regulated Financial Services) Location : Hybrid - remote + regular on-site (London) This is a hands-on technical leadership position in the making. You will work across product management, engineering, and client-facing discussions to evolve the design of a distributed ledger-based post-trade platform operating within regulated financial services. You will initially contribute as a senior engineer while progressively taking ownership of system-level architecture, solution design, and technical direction. Requirements Responsibilities: Architecture & System Design: o Design scalable, secure distributed systems in regulated environments o Define and evolve system architecture, APIs, and integration patterns o Apply appropriate software design patterns and architectural principles o Contribute to smart contract and ledger design decisions o Ensure auditability, resilience, and operational robustness Distributed Ledger & Digital Assets: Work with distributed ledger technologies and smart contracts. Design models for: o Tokenised assets o Natively digital assets o Atomic settlement o DvP and RvP mechanisms o Central bank digital currency (CBDC) integration concepts · Evaluate trade-offs between on-chain and off-chain components Financial Services Context: o Translate regulatory and market structure requirements into technical design o Understand settlement models and post-trade infrastructure o Work within business frameworks such as CSDR and GDPR. Engineering & Implementation: o Contribute production-quality code in Java, JavaScript, Solidity, SQL o Review code and guide best practices o Improve CI/CD, testing strategies, and observability Communication & Influence o Communicate complex technical concepts clearly to engineers, product management, clients, and regulators (where applicable) o Tailor messaging to different audiences. o Use structured thinking and persuasive communication to amplify the impact of our technology. o Contribute to technical documentation and client materials. Requirements: Technical: o Strong experience designing and building software products o Solid understanding of distributed systems principles o Experience with distributed ledgers and/or blockchain platforms o Familiarity with tokenisation and digital asset concepts o Strong API design experience (REST, event-driven architectures, etc.) o Working knowledge of: Java; JavaScript; Solidity; SQL Financial Services Knowledge (or strong motivation to learn): o Understanding of post-trade processes o Familiarity with: CSDR; Central securities depositories; DvP and RvP models; Atomic settlement o Appreciation of regulatory constraints in financial infrastructure Communication & Leadership Potential o Excellent written and verbal communication o Ability to adjust technical depth depending on audience o Structured and persuasive thinking o Comfortable operating in ambiguity o Ambition to grow into a Technical & Solution Architect role o Ownership mindset and startup resilience What Success Looks Like: Within 6–12 months, success in this role means owning key architectural decisions and leading solution design discussions both internally and with partners. You’ll be the go-to person for system-level trade-offs, using your technical insight to influence product direction, and you’ll act as the bridge between business requirements and engineering implementation.
