Backend Engineer

Description: Core backend engineering role at a fintech company focused on building global trust infrastructure. Design systems and APIs for a high-trust, distributed platform. Requirements: 5–7+ years of backend engineering experience in production environments. Strong systems thinking and ability to tackle large architectural problems. Proficiency in at least one backend language (Node.js/TypeScript, Python, Go, Java). Experience designing scalable APIs and backend infrastructure for high-volume systems. Hands-on experience with relational databases (Postgres or MySQL). Familiarity with message queues or event-driven architectures (e.g. RabbitMQ, Kafka). Experience deploying applications in containerized or cloud environments (e.g. Kubernetes, AWS). Experience writing automated tests and maintaining testable codebases. Background in high-trust or regulated domains (fintech, payments, identity). Clear communicator who thrives in ambiguity and enjoys collaboration. Nice to have: Node.js, TypeScript, Event Sourcing, Express, RabbitMQ, Kubernetes, AWS experience; prior experience at an early-stage or high-growth company. Benefits: Base salary range: €116,000 – €146,000, determined by a published leveling system. Fully remote position, open to candidates in European time zones.
